Antropofagia
Tormod Carlson

When I was working in Brazil in February this year I became interested in Brazilian art, the Tropicaliá movement, and especially the literary movement- Antropofagia (meaning “cannibalism”). As a tribute to them, and all other cultures that have used beasts to symbolise humankind, I created a monster structure from recycled materials, safety foil and disco lights. It was a process that invited people to come with ideas and test out many different versions of the structure before presenting the final result to an audience.
On the night of the Bluss event I walked the monster through a field adjacent to the route so it could be seen in the distance by the passing audience.
