At present, we as human beings and members of the global natural community have a responsibility. From the earth to the seed to the fruit to the harvest to the children to play to the tree to the fire to the ashes to the earth to the seed is a series of three works created to demonstrate potentials in the movement forward to sustaining our environments for future generations.
Food Security, the strengthening of Communities, time for rest, reflection and play are all key aspects to enjoying and progressively making change in the immediate future with long lasting and practical solutions.
Fire
Using locally sourced fuel, Fire, provided a platform to communicate viable solutions to our global Oil dependency. Each household in Finke was invited to contribute wood towards a community fire. The contributions demonstrated the variety and diversity of timber available in the local environment –the collection creating a social sculpture and community portrait.
The Stone Age did not end for the lack of stone and the Oil Age will end long before the
World runs out of oil - Sheikh Zaki Yamani.
Fire, was sited as part of the BLUSS festival, providing an reference to ancient methods of communication and future viable fuel sources, the warmth and light of the fire created a platform for discussion and awareness. Apples were offered to the audience and a text work inscribed on to the same found material used to make the swing connected Fire with Fruit and with Play.

From the earth to the seed to the fruit to the harvest to the children to play to the tree to the fire to the ashes to the earth to the seed is also linked with a communities in Gambia and England, creating the awareness that we are all faced with these issues and we can all enjoy these solutions.
