Fruit
From the earth to the seed to the fruit to the harvest to the children to play to the tree to the fire to the ashes to the earth to the seed.
Beth Hamer

At present, we as human beings and members of the global natural community have a responsibility. From the earth to the seed to the fruit to the harvest to the children to play to the tree to the fire to the ashes to the earth to the seed is a series of three works created to demonstrate potentials in the movement forward to sustaining our environments for future generations.
Food Security, the strengthening of Communities, time for rest, reflection and play are all key aspects to enjoying and progressively making change in the immediate future with long lasting and practical solutions.
Fruit
Created with the Fyske Kindergarten (children from 2- 5 years old), through a series of workshops and discussions the children selected ten varieties of apple tree that are native to the Hadanger region of Norway. All members of the community were invited to participate in planting the Fyske Community Orchard. The work highlights issues surrounding Food Security, Soil preservation and also celebrates the agricultural methods that have been implement in Hadanger over many centuries. The work also provides a context to look far in to the future, to imagine the children that may play in the trees and the villagers that may reap the harvest.
“The apple tree does not judge. She will bear her fruit for any being. The apple tree will provide for the poorper and the rich man, the saint and the thief, the child and the grandparent, the bird and the bee, the worm and the earth – she will ask for nothing in return.”
Satish Kumar

From the earth to the seed to the fruit to the harvest to the children to play to the tree to the fire to the ashes to the earth to the seed is also linked with a communities in Gambia and England, creating the awareness that we are all faced with these issues and we can all enjoy these solutions.
