Bright Sparks
Renewable Devices for Art and Ecology.
The aim of this project was to develop ambitious and imaginative proposals for functional sculptures that fully integrated renewable technologies. Many of these devices would respond to the physical conditions of geography and climate. Other scenarios attempted to confront more directly the question of reduced consumption through socially engaged means. One such experiment, tested during Stavanger 2008, attempted to harness the abundance of waste human energy in two of the city's gymnasiums. These attempts to make more effective use of freely available energy revealed a set of very complex social, ethical, political and economic questions. |
