Lifeboat

This work was constructed during a residency at Cove Park, a site that lies directly between Faslane and Coulport Naval Bases on the West coast of Scotland. My response was informed partly by the disappearance of a thriving boat building tradition on the peninsula, and also from being sandwiched between these two key sites in the UKs nuclear deterrent.
In the spring of 2001 this fully functional coffin/boat was used to row out onto Loch Long before an untimely interception by the Special Boat Service.
