Bright Sparks statement- 2006 / 2007
Bright Sparks is a funding initiative for arts and design led research and development projects
which explore the physical and social aspects of public open space in both urban and rural contexts. The Bright Sparks scheme encourages and supports submissions from artists and lead applicants who will take considered risks within their research objectives, transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries, consider contemporary cultural trends, and explore new or experimental materials in new situations.
Bright Sparks was originated and is managed by Landscape+Arts Network Services (LANS), as part
of Gunpowder Park’s arts and environment programme. Located within the Lee Valley Regional Park, Gunpowder Park is a new country park for the benefit of people, wildlife and the arts.
Bright Sparks is primarily funded by Arts Council England, with additional funding from
Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, Knowledge East and Hertfordshire County Council.
Green Places, the journal of the Landscape Design Trust is the media partner.
