Lime Street Picture House . City Picture House . Futurist

The city's first purpose-built cinema, having been open for almost 70 years at the time of closure in 1982, was the leading cinema of the ciruit. It was controlled by Edwin Haigh, who formed the Lime Street Picture House Co Ltd, which was registered in 1911 with an authorised capital of £20,000.

The Georgian-style frontage was about 60' wide and included a shop at either side of the central main entrance, surmounted by a metal and glass verandah with the name, Picture House, on the facia in large letters formed by white opaque glass. Along the front were mounted several torch-style, shaded electric light fittings.
